Lauren O’Hara is an illustrator originally from the North of England and now based in Dublin, with an established international practice in children’s publishing. Her work has been published by leading houses including Macmillan Publishers, Puffin Books, Penguin Random House, Thames & Hudson, and Walker Books, and has been translated into more than fifteen languages worldwide.

She has two books publishing in 2026: Mei Mei the Bunny (2026), published by Penguin Random House and written by two-time Grammy Award winner Laufey; and Once Upon a Stolen Sleigh (2026), published by Macmillan and written by Natalia O’Hara.

She has been twice nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal for Madame Badobedah (2021) and Hortense and the Shadow (2022). She received the Illustrators’ Ireland KPMG Illustration Honour Award for Frindleswylde (2019) and has been twice shortlisted for the World Illustration Awards.

Her work has been recognised by The Guardian and Sunday Independent, and she was a speaker at the Children’s Books Ireland Conference in 2025.
